Nice break from weird weather

Posted: Updated:

Clear skies across Acadiana after a wet and blustery start to the work week, and after a warm weekend the clear air behind the front will allow temperatures to drop quickly Monday night.

At this point all of us here in Acadiana feel like grizzled veterans of winter and while lows Tuesday morning will be chilly, they won't come anywhere close to the cold we've experienced so far this year.

Lows will drop down into the low 40s so a light jacket may be all that's needed for anyone with plans after sunset or early Tuesday morning as temperatures will fall quickly once the sun goes down.

Little change is expected through the middle of the week, skies will remain clear and the highs in the afternoon will be pleasantly consistent in the low to mid 60s.

It wouldn't be south Louisiana weather, however, without a quick and drastic change in the weather pattern always immediately on the horizon, and in this case the horizon is at the end of the week.

As the week goes on there will be a quick turnaround to a warmer more humid air mass sitting on top of Louisiana by Friday and a couple of upper level disturbances will be enough to kick off showers and storms.

This will be the build up to yet another front moving through during the weekend which may usher in another round of colder temperatures, which still don't look as extreme as the ones from last week.
