Family members have identified the man who died in a shooting this morning in Welsh.
Nehemiah Gray, 25, died early Monday, relatives tell KATC TV3.
Family members say they found about 30 shell casings in the area where Gray's body was found. They also tell us that witnesses told them they saw two people running away from the scene after shots were fired.
The victim's aunt, Natasha Gray, said the family is doing the best they can to stay strong right now.
"My family is devastated. We haven't slept, we haven't eaten. We just worried and we want answers," Gray said.
Gray was also a father of three, his aunt said his oldest son is having a hard time understanding what happened.
"He has sons. He has a 4-year-old, he has a3-month-old, and a baby on the way. They are devastated. The 4-year-old, he was so close to his father. We are all just trying to be strong so that we can make Kason be able to understand that his father was murdered," Gray said.
Monday morning our crew found that tape at the crime scene stretches across several residential yards. Cheif Crochet says that more information on the shooting will be available until Tuesday.
One neighbor said he has lived on this street for 83 years and has never experienced something like this.
The Police Department is currently tracking down leads and no information on suspects is being released.
The family tells KATC this murder is also opening an old wound. Gray's nephew was killed nearly six years ago in this same area.
"We're praying. We are just trying to stay strong and we just want answers. We are trying to make sure that this little town of Welsh, we can try to come together and help each other to solve this murder," Gray said.
Welsh police, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office and Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Office had responded to the call.
