A woman sailing on a Carnival cruise ship from New Orleans is missing after going overboard in the Gulf of Mexico, according to a company spokesman.

A 44-year-old woman “was seen going overboard” from the Carnival Triumph on Sunday night, Carnival Cruise Line spokesman Vance Gulliksen said. The Advocate is reporting, the ship was on its second day of a five-day cruise from New Orleans.

Search and rescue operations are underway, and Carnival’s CARE Team “is providing support and assistance to the guest’s family,” Gulliksen said.

Citing passenger privacy concerns, Carnival was unable to say where the woman lives.

The Carnival Triumph operates four- and five-day cruises from New Orleans.
