Victim killed in New Iberia shooting identified

The victim in the New Iberia fatal shooting has been identified as Deondrick Bowser, 27, of New Iberia.

All other details are pending autopsy and the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office investigation.


Shortly after 11:00 pm deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 300 block of Deare Street. 

Deputies located a 27-year-old black male laying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest. 

The victim was transported to the Iberia Medical Center where he succumbed to his wounds. 

Investigators located evidence at the scene which indicates that the victim was shot with a rifle. 

The victim's identity will be released by the Coroner's office once the next-of-kin have been notified.
