A cleaning crew found a fetus in a Baton Rouge sewer on Saturday afternoon, authorities say.

The cleaning crew was cleaning out the sewer line around 2:15 p.m. near a construction site when they saw the fetus down a manhole, The Advocate reports. They didn't realize it was a fetus initially.

The crew immediately called 911.

The workers say they don't know how long the fetus has been there, but they worked on the site about two weeks ago before being taken off the job due to the freezing temperatures.

According to the report, the fetus was not wrapped in anything.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office and Coroner's Office are investigating.
