LAFAYETTE, La. - Ragin' Cajuns football wasting no time finding their new Defensive Coordinator, as they are expected to hire Southeastern Head Coach Ron Roberts as DC.

In 5 years as the leader in Hammond, Roberts has led the Lions to a 42-29 record overall, including 2 Southland championships in 2013 and 14. The Lions advanced to the FCS Quarterfinals in 2013 after an 11-3 record.

Roberts' defense has been heralded in the SLC, with one of SLU's best years coming in 2013, when his defense ranked 10th in the nation in turnover margin and top 25 in scoring defense and sacks. In 2014, his defense ranked 2nd in the nation in interceptions, 5th in red zone defense, 8th in scoring defense and 7th in total defense.

Roberts has also sent two defenders to the NFL. Cornerback Robert Alford in 2013 (Atlanta) and Safety Harlan Miller in 2016 (Arizona).

Roberts replaces Karl Scott, who was his defensive coordinator in 2014 and was an assistant under Roberts for 3 total years (2012-14). Scott was in Lafayette for a month before accepting an assistant position with Alabama.
