Finally shaking the cold weather

Posted: Updated:

It was another frozen start Thursday as temperatures once again were flirting with record lows as the thermometers plunged down into the upper teens and low 20s across south Louisiana.

Wednesday afternoon temperatures stayed below freezing which lead to some icy patches on the roads, however, we will be able to warm up slightly which will finally get rid of the pesky slick spots.

Skies will remain clear again Thursday afternoon and night, leading to another cold night across the region that should be the last subfreezing temperatures we get with this latest round of winter.

A slow warm up into the weekend is expected and by Sunday afternoon we'll be above average for our highs, although this will be accompanied by clouds and eventually showers.

Winds kick up out of the south Friday afternoon which will bring in enough moisture for a mostly cloudy scenario this weekend and our next front is anticipated to move through Sunday night.
