Baldwin residents asked to not drip faucets

Posted: Updated:

Town of Baldwin officials are asking customers to not allow faucets to drip due to freezing temperatures. They suggest to residents to drain their water pipes and shut the water valve off.

In early January, the Town's water was shut off for two days because of freezing temperatures.

Dripping the water is ineffective unless there is a steady stream, but do this only if you are on a well-water system, as running the water at steady rate lowers the community water pressure and the ability to fight fires, which invariably occur locally with the use of space heaters, according to KATC's Chief Meteorologist Rob Perillo.

As always consult a plumber for the specific protection you made need for your home.
