A Welsh man was arrested Friday and booked on weapons charges.

Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant on a residence on Frances Street in Welsh. The warrant was issued following a narcotics investigation.

One person was in the home, and ran away, a spokesman said. Deputies quickly caught up with him and arrested him.

Jermaine Washington, 45, allegedly had a gun when he was captured, and was wearing body armor, the spokesman said.

He was booked with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and improper use of body armor.

Deputies recovered a small quantity of methamphetamine from the residence, the spokesman said. Additional arrests are expected.

Also arrested this morning in Welsh was Devin Chad Meyer, 41, who was booked with Possession of CDS II Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug paraphernalia.  Deputies discovered drugs and paraphernalia while executing a search warrant that was issued following a narcotics investigation.

Welsh Police department assisted in the investigation and execution of the search warrants this morning.  Meyer is being held on three outstanding warrants for contempt of court.
