UPDATE, 8:40 p.m.: The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office and relatives say that Adyn Fontenot has returned home and is safe.
At approximately 8:20 PM on January 12, 2018, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office says they received a call from a family member of Adyn Fontenot stating that he had just returned home.
Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to the residence and confirmed that Fontenot had returned home. He was found to be in good health.
The reason for his disappearance and not returning home immediately was not disclosed, however, search officials with the American Cajun Navy said the boy was allegedly hiding in a building belonging to his father. The crew member says the boy was sleeping and when he woke up, returned home.
Sheriff's Office officials say these actions were of the teen's own free will.
Police are asking for help from the public locating an Evangeline Parish runaway.
Adyn Fontenot, 13, left his home located in the 1000 block of Jeremy Cole Drive around 7:00 pm. According to his mother, he was upset for being disciplined.
He was last seen wearing a grey polo shirt, khaki pants, grey jacket, and black shoes. Friday night, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office told KATC that crews discontinued the search around 7:00 p.m. Searches will begin again Saturday morning at the break of daylight.
A Facebook post shared by the boy's godmother asks for those in the Bayou Chicot / Pine Prairie area to check their sheds, campers, or barns for Adyn.
