The Lafayette Police department has announced the closure of W. Willow Street today, Friday, January 12, from 8:00 am until 11:00 am as crews work to install barricades in preparation of the Martin Luther King Day parade on Sunday, January 14.

The roadway will be closed again on Sunday at 2:30 pm from N. University to the Evangeline Thruway for the parade. The department estimates the closure will end on Sunday at 5 or 6 pm. The parade will begin at 3:00 pm on W. Willow and Cora Street and end in front of the Clifton Chenier Center.

After the barricades are put out, only the outer lanes will be open for travel until Tuesday.  On Tuesday morning January 16th, crews will be back out picking up the barricades from 8:00am until approximately 11am.  Willow will be closed once again in this work area.
