Lafayette Police: Homicides in Lafayette and Broussard are related

UPDATE:  Lafayette Police say that their investigators are now working with Broussard Police on homicides that occurred overnight in both cities.

Police suspect that the homicides are related. Lafayette Police say they are leading the simultaneous investigative effort.

UPDATE: Lafayette Police have identified the man who was found dead inside a burning car this morning.

Police say the victim is Justin Zeno, 28, of Lafayette. 

The Lafayette Police department and Lafayette Fire department are investigating a homicide that occurred in the 200 Block of Belleau Street early this morning, Friday, January 12, in Lafayette. The departments say they responded to a call in reference to a burning vehicle at around 1:00 am.

The departments say that a male subject was found in a burning vehicle with a gunshot wound. The incident, according to the department, is being investigated as a homicide.

No further information is being released.

Anyone with any information regarding the incident is asked to call Lafayette Police or Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
