Canada out a LSU

Posted: Updated:

BATON ROUGE -- LSU and offensive coordinator Matt Canada part ways after a rocky one-year term.

The Advocate reports that LSU and Canada agreed to a $1.7 million buyout. He was reportedly owed $3 million.

Canada was the highest paid offensive coordinator in 2017, making $1.5 million. He was hired to provide an offensive spark, but in one season the Tigers never reached that point. LSU ranked 54th in yards-per-game this season and struggled in the red zone.

Talks of Canada's departure have been ongoing since before the Tiger's Citrus Bowl loss against Notre Dame.
