City of Scott kicks off Mardi Gras season

Posted: Updated:
SCOTT, La. -

The City of Scott officially kicked off the Mardi Gras season today by raising the flag at city hall to mark the beginning of the holiday.

City officials say the annual parade serves as a celebration of community.

"It passes right through communities, right through the city of Scott, but it passes in front of homes," said Purvis Morrison. "So families get together to have reunion type events, barbeque, gumbo, and it's just a culmination of the family. People getting together and having this great festivity in our community."
