ABBEVILLE, La -- Vermilion Catholic High School has hired former UL defensive coordinator Kevin Fouqier as its new football coach. The news first reported by the Daily Advertiser's James Bewers was confirmed by the school's athletic director on Friday.

Fouquier, 52, is from Franklin, Lousiana and has served as the Screaming Eagles defensive coordinator since 2012. Before coming to VC, Fouqier worked under former Cajun football coach Rickey Bustle for four seasons at UL.

Foquier takes over at VC after the resignation of first year head coach and former Cajuns quarterback, Brady Thomas. Thomas led the team to an 8-2 regular season record in 2017 winning the District 7-1A title.

Fouqier is expected to start in February.
