2017 beats 2016 as the hottest year on record for Lafayette

Lafayette experienced it warmest year on record in 2017, supplanting 2016 as the warmest.

The records for Lafayette date back to 1893, 124 years. 

Most notable, is the fact that  four of the last six years are in the top seven warmest on record...a definitive, quantifiable warming trend continues, and is inline with national and worldwide climbing temperature trends.

While we measure year-long temperatures by the "mean" or the average of all highs and lows together, the most notable trend continues to be the warming of our overnight lows...which pushed the mean temperatures to record levels over the last two years.

The numbers for 2016 and 2017 might have been even warmer, if it weren't for the two rather very wet years.
