The baby who died Tuesday has been identified. His father is under arrest, accused of his murder. Last year, his father was accused of trying to kill the baby's mother - but was allowed to plead to a property damage charge and was released from jail just weeks before the boy died.

Sheriff KP Gibson identified the child as Aycen Washington. He confirmed that Aycen was the son of Aaliyah Washington.

A man identified as his father, Ted Arceneaux, 20, was booked with first-degree murder in connection with the five-month-old's death.

KATC Investigates learned that Arceneaux had been released from jail just weeks before the death, where he was a sentence for a plea deal he made. He was indicted in 2017 on a charge of attempted first-degree murder, accused of trying to kill a woman named Aaliyah Washington.

Arceneaux was indicted on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property and simple burglary in connection with a May 2016 incident at Washington's Domingue Street home, court records show.

The Lafayette Parish District Attorney's Office allowed him to plead guilty to the aggravated criminal damage to property charge in October 2017. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with all but one year suspended. He was also given credit for time served since he was arrested in December 2016, meaning he was released in late November 2017.
