KATC's Sports Director Andrew Clay gives us a morning recap of all things sporting events and news for Wednesday, January 3, 2018

The New Orleans Saints

We've all heard the conversation about how hard it is to beat a team three times in one season. That it's nearly impossible to pull off the sweep and that the Saints should ultimately lose to the Panthers on Sunday. But history says otherwise.
In fact, 13 of the 20 times this scenario has played out in the NFL, the team who won the first two games, won the third games

So will the Saints win? We'll have to wait and see on Sunday. The Saints take on the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, January 7th at 3:40 pm. The game will air on local Fox stations.

LSU Tigers

LSU is now turning its attention to 2018. Head Coach Ed Orgeron says that after the Tiger's Citrus Bowl loss he has to put his recruiting hat on. But Coach O wasn't talking about high schoolers, but his current team. Derrius Guice is among the underclassman who could leave for the NFL draft.
Guice was non-committal after the loss saying his focus has been solely on the bowl.

Today's Sports Events

A big game in basketball is happening tonight in Baton Rouge. LSU hosts the number 17 Kentucky Wildcats. ESPN is calling this game a coin toss. The game begins tonight at 7:30 pm and can be viewed on SEC Network.

Tonight at 7 pm, the Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Boston Celtics in Boston

The Pelicans will play the Utah Jazz tonight at 8 pm in Utah.
