No breaks in winter forecast

Posted: Updated:

Wednesday morning, and we have still not made it above freezing.

In Acadiana this winter outbreak is certainly rare, but not unprecedented, we've seen cold snaps like this in the past but it's been quite some time for one to last as long as this one.

A few flurries fell overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning but if you slept through them then, unfortunately, you missed the event as all evidence has melted away leaving behind only a few picture and videos on the internet.

While it may not feel like it temperatures will, in fact, climb above freezing Wednesday afternoon giving everything a chance to quite literally thaw out before another hard freeze sets in across Acadiana.

Winds have stayed fairly consistent out of the north which has lead to the wind chill sitting down in the 20s and no matter what the thermometer says outside it will still feel like the 20s and low 30s.

There is some warmer air on the horizon, however, after another couple of very chilly days temperatures will warm up Saturday night with highs returning back to the 60s Sunday afternoon.

This though will come with added moisture and showers Sunday night into the beginning of next week.
