Lafayette Public Library to kick off Lafayette Reads Together program

The Lafayette Public Library will begin its Lafayette Reads Together program on January 10, 2018.

The program is a community-wide reading experience created by the Lafayette Public Library,  the Lafayette Parish School System, and other local organizations. The event, which begins on January 10th will last until March 15 with programs and events scheduled throughout Lafayette for readers young and old. 

The event kicks off with "An Evening with Kwame Alexander" at 6:30 pm on January 10th at the Main Library. Alexander, whose book The Crossover is the programs selected read, will share insights and experiences in literacy, empowerment, action, and poetry. Alexander's novel is described as a tale of family, love, loss, and basketball. It was the 2015 recipient of the Coretta Scott King Award for Children's Literacy and Newbery Medal.
