Some Arnaudville residents without water over 24 hours

Posted: Updated:

Residents who have United Water in Arnaudville have been without water for more than 24 hours now.

Those on Nonc Lol Drive have been without water since eight Monday morning. John Guillory, who lives on Nonc Lol, said his family has been suffering in more ways than one.

"We are going to have to travel out of town and go to Opelousas and other local areas where our family members are to cleanse ourselves and eat and everything. We are not going to stand for this," Guillory said.

Other residents said the water was turned off in the middle of washing dishes, without warning, and they have yet to hear from the United Water plant where they pay their bill.

"Common courtesy, someone could have left a voicemail, saying we would be without water and we are trying to resolve this issue. But at this point we have still heard nothing," One resident said.

KATC reached out to city and state officials, and were unable to get any answers. The water plant was closed, but there was a light on and a car outside, but residents said there was no answer when they knocked.

"To me it feels like they have a nonchalant attitude about this, and it seems like they're not doing all they can to resolve the issue." Guillory said.

The sign on the door of the plant urges residents to call the emergency number if the office is closed. Residents said they called the number multiple times, but they are only getting a voicemail.

"You would think that the water company would feel empathy for us and try to work their best to get our water on, but it seems as if they don't care as long as they're getting paid," Guillory said.

"Our cry out is that there is people on this road, small children, special needs, and we would like someone to give us answers so we know when the water will be turned back on," One resident said.
