An Acadia Parish Police Jury committee will discuss Wednesday replacing the standard central monitoring system at the parish jail.

According to Sheriff K. P. Gibson, that system controls the doors and other security devices at the jail.  Gibson further described the system as "the nervous system, the brain of the jail."

"the system is outdated, and we're starting to have problems with it," Gibson tells KATC.  "We want to get it replaced before we have any major issues."

The police jury committee meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at the parish courthouse.
