2018 Citrus Bowl: LSU Tigers vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

It was a tough start to 2018 for LSU on Monday. The Tigers lose to Notre Dame 21-17. KATC's Seth Lewis had the complete wrap up of the game between the Tigers and the Fighting Irish.

Despite their greatest efforts to give the game away, LSU still had a chance to win it late against Notre Dame. Ultimately, what cost the Tigers were mistakes. From offense, where they entered the redzone a couple of times but weren't able to punch it in the endzone. To special teams, where missed kicks and muffed punts led to a sloppy day for those two units.

"We just looked sloppy. Twice we had 10 men on the field. We haven't had that all year." Coach Orgeron of the Tiger's performance. "Put that on me, we have to do a better job. I do think hiring a Special Teams coach will make a difference."

One of the biggest plays in the game: LSU and Notre Dame are tied 14-14 with LSU electing to go for a field goal instead of trying to score a touchdown.

Coach Orgeron says that he did consider going for the TD, but he trusted his defense to get a stop and force the Irish to kick a field goal. The game ultimately ended with a win for the Irish over the Tigers.
