Jennings native Travis Etienne returns to Louisiana for Sugar Bowl

Posted: Updated:
NEW ORLEANS, La. -

Clemson running back Travis Etienne made his way home to Jennings before reporting to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl Monday night.

The Clemson Tigers will face off against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Etienne, a former Jennings High football player, signed with Clemson in early February after being recruited by their assistant coach, Tony Elliott.

The Acadiana native helped Jennings High to an 11-2 record in 2016 where they advanced to the third round of the state playoffs.

Etienne arrived in Jennings last Friday to spend three days in his hometown with his family, according to a report by The Advocate. He needed his grandmother's crawfish étouffée with a side of fried catfish. He needed a hot bowl of gumbo. He needed a trip to Darrell's Po-boys for the Surf and Turf sandwich, a Louisiana specialty combining shrimp and roast beef.
