U. S. 90 East is now open after a deadly crash involving an 18-wheeler.

Broussard Police Chief Brannon Decou said the incident occurred at11:55 p.m.. Thursday just south of the St. Martin/Lafayette Parish line. US 90 was closed Friday morning as a result of the crash and opened just before 5:00 a.m. December 29, 2017.

Police and witnesses say the truck crashed into the car as it was trying to turn onto the highway from a casino's parking lot.  Police say the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.  She has been identified as Rebecca Boudreaux Aguillard, 33, of Youngsville.

The truck driver was not injured, and no citations were issued to him, Broussard Police said.

The crash forced police to close U. S. 90 at Young Street for nearly four hours while officers investigated the crash.

Alcohol involvement is unknown and toxicology results are pending for Aguillard, police said.
