Even in the cold weather, crews are continuing to keep construction on Milton Elementary/ Middle School on schedule.
This year, work on Milton Elementary's new wing began. 60 square feet including 30 new classrooms and an enlarged cafeteria is currently on its way to being finished. New, extended parking lots for staff and visitors are also in the works in hopes that, after completion, the school will be able to accommodate least 1,200 students.
The facility will bring in updated technology including Promethean boards and one on one technology along with getting older buildings out and updating the campus.
The new wing, once completed will house areas for students to learn independently but also more collaborative learning environments. Groundbreaking on this project started back in March.
School Board Member Jeremy Hidalgo updated the public on the project via his Facebook page saying that the crews from Keiland Construction were keeping the Milton project on schedule even through the cold weather.
Earlier this year, Milton Elementary finished work on a new driveway to accommodate a larger number of students, eliminating the need for parents to park along the roadway when picking up children. He hopes that the addition to the school will start the school year off with an adequate and comfortable facility.
The project is slated to be finished before the beginning of the 2018/2019 school year.
