Granddaughters of DL Menard create tribute album

Posted: Updated:

The granddaughters of Cajun Musician DL Menard are honoring his memory with a new album.

His granddaughters say it started at Menard's funeral earlier this year when producer Chris Foreman heard their rendition of  "Leader of the Band."

Victoria Theriot, one of Menard's granddaughters, says the song is special to the whole family having been performed by several generations.

"Things happen in life and it doesn't mean everything will be just amazing all the time but he took things in stride and he valued family and he always made it high priority he loved entertaining and he laughed so loud I mean he walked in a room and fill it up with his presence," said Theriot.

Menard passed away the morning of July 27, 2017, at his home in Scott, Louisiana. He was 85 years old.
