The department shared a photo of a door hanger that deputies say has been found on the doors of several residents. The hanger claims that a new recycling program is being implemented and that it will be mandatory for all residents.

The flyer states that resident's garbage will be inspected and fines given for trash that has not been separated of the following products: bones, used tissues, eggshells, moldy items, cat litter.

The sheriff's department says that after speaking with the Acadia Parish Police Jury they were informed that there was no knowledge of any sort new recycling program in the area. There have been no changes to the recycling process and no expected changes are to be implemented.

Deputies ask that anyone with information on the door hangers that indicate it is a real program or knows who has been passing out the door hangers should contact the department at 337-788-8772
