Posted: Updated:

The Abbeville City Council has called a special meeting for Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at 10:30 am to address the violence and the recent shooting in Abbeville. A 14-year-old boy was killed in a shooting on Schlessinger Street Tuesday night.

"The council will discuss overtime and make sure the chief knows there is no restraint on his budget and that he has an open checkbook as far as overtime goes," said Abbeville Mayor Mark Piazza. "Any equipment, manpower or resources he needs, we want to make sure is available to him."

Jalen Levine, 25, was arrested for a first-degree murder charge in connection with the shooting.
