Abbeville Police held a memorial on the 25th anniversary of the death of a fellow officer.

Seven law enforcement agencies participated in the memorial ceremony for Officer John "Dooley" Hardy. Hardy was killed in the line of duty on December 24, 1992.

Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office, Abbeville City Marshal's Office, Erath Police Department, Maurice Police Department, Kaplan Police Department, Crowley Police Department and the Abbeville Fire Department were there to pay tribute to their fallen officer.

On Tuesday, the Abbeville Police Department gathered with friends and family to remember Hardy and others killed in the line of duty.

Outside the police station, a memorial for Hardy which features a stone with his image embossed on its face was decorated with a wreath and pictures.

An American flag was unfurled above the police station as attendees stood below it. That  flag was presented to the family along with a plaque commemorating the day.
