Bank robbery suspect arrested after standoff at Westlake residence

According to KPLC, The suspect involved in the standoff with law enforcement in Westlake has been arrested.

Police say that 56-year-old Gordon Cooper of Singer, was taken into custody after a standoff with deputies at a residence in Westlake. Tear gas was used in the negotiation of Cooper's surrender.

Cooper is believed to be the gunman in a bank robbery that occurred in DeQuincy on Monday. Authorities also recovered money inside the Westlake residence, according to Threet. 

At around 12:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon, deputies with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office ACT-Team were dispatched to assist DeQuincy Police Department in serving a warrant on a suspect from a previous bank robbery that the DeQuincy Police is handling.
