Visibility poor to start Thursday

Posted: Updated:

Fog rolled in for the morning hours on Thursday impacting commutes across Acadiana and that fog is set to hang around for the first half of the morning, with a little clearing by lunch.

It's another day that will mark a change in the pattern with patchy sunshine eventually giving way to mostly cloudy skies by Thursday afternoon and a few showers popping up along the coast.

This increase in cloud cover will be a result of moisture streaming in from the Gulf of Mexico ahead of the next front which is scheduled to move through late Friday night/Saturday.

Thunderstorms will be possible with the passage of this front, but not anticipating any of the storms to be overly strong or severe as the dynamics don't look like they'll line up.

Rain totals don't look overly impressive either so expecting just a good soaking for Acadiana and the rest of the southeast in the build-up to the holiday, but ending by Christmas Eve.

This could make for some rough travel conditions for the south east especially if your getaway plans have you leaving Saturday, but the cooler clearer air will filter in on Sunday.

Doesn't look like the cold outbreak we were bracing for but it could still be plenty chilly on Christmas.
