Morgan City woman accused of dogfighting, animal cruelty

A 41-year-old Morgan City woman was arrested on warrants for alleged animal cruelty and dogfighting.

Keishia L. Howard was arrested on Tuesday on warrants stemming from a December 2nd investigation when officers discovered several pit bull dogs at a  residence on Mount St. in Morgan City, according to the Morgan City Arrest Report. Officers say the animals were found to be in poor condition without proper shelter. The report states that the animals had injuries consistent with dogfighting and were not being properly cared for with adequate food and water. 

Tthe dogs were seized and removed from the residence, according to police.

Warrants were prepared for Howard's arrest. She was transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated or charges of vicious dogs or animals prohibited, aggravated cruelty to animals (3 counts) and dogfighting.
