Police: Suspect arrested in Tuesday night shooting in Abbeville

The Abbeville police department has arrested a suspect in connection with last night's fatal shooting in Abbeville. 

Police say they have arrested 25-year old Jalen Levine in connection with the shooting that occurred in the area of Kibbe and Vernon Streets around 7:30 pm last night. Police issued a warrant for Levine after the 14-year old victim, who has not been identified, told police Levine was the person who shot him. The victim later died from his injuries. 

Police say the Lafayette Sheriff's Department located Levine at 2:00 a.m. in a stopped vehicle in Broussard. Levine was inside the vehicle with a female driver. Levine was arrested on a warrant for first-degree murder. No bond has been set on the warrant

He was booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center awaiting bond.
