Jacquen Hunter, the sister of fallen New Orleans Police Officer Natasha Hunter, became an officer herself on Friday.

Hunter is the fourth of her siblings to join the force: along with Jacquen two other sisters currently serve.

Their sibling, Natasha Hunter, died in June 2016 in an accident while in the line of duty.

"I was the last person to speak to my sister," Hunter said. "The last thing i told her was to be safe."

Hunter said her sister's death caused her to do some soul searching and second-guessing, but in the end, she felt she needed to stay the course.

"This is my life. This is what I want to do with my life," she said.

She said she felt her sister was with her as she finished the academy.

"I believe she guided me through this journey," she said. "I see different signs, and I know it's her."
