A year after her body was found, St. Mary Sheriff's deputies still want to talk to the ex-husband of a woman found dead in Baldwin.

A spokeswoman for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's office said investigators want to talk to Russell Richard Jr. as a possible witness who may have information on the crime.

Reynell Lockett was found dead inside a car off of U.S. 90 near the Baldwin Canal in December 2016.

Her killer has yet to be found. However, her family believes her death was the result of domestic violence. They are holding a vigil tonight to remember her.

Lockett was last seen with Richard when they left in a car to buy Christmas gifts. Two days later, Lockett’s body was found off Highway 90 near the Baldwin Canal. Russell Richard’s car was found five miles away.

In January, Richard's mother said her son had disappeared, and she had not seen him since that last day he was seen with Lockett.

At that time, St. Mary Sheriff's deputies refused to call Richard a suspect, and they continue to say only that he is a possible witness who may have information.
