More showers and storms to start the work week

Posted: Updated:

Patchy to dense fog will develop across Acadiana this evening as their is plenty of low level moisture following the showers this morning.

Monday morning a warm front will lift off the Gulf and push scattered showers/storms over Acadiana, especially south of I-10.

Some locations along the coast could see heavy showers train over the same spot causing rainfall totals to add up to about 2-3 inches creating minor flooding on streets and low lying areas.

The rain should come to an end around lunchtime but we will stay damp and cloudy, very similar to Sunday afternoon.

Moving into the evening patchy to dense fog will develop again as we remain rather humid.

Tuesday will start off dry with a few scattered showers possible during the afternoon before a cold front swings through the region late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning producing widespread showers and storms.

By the time the rain comes to an end Wednesday morning most of Acadiana will have received 1-2 inches of rain while some locations could see 2-4 inches.

Not expecting any flooding concerns but where some of these heavier showers develop ponding on roadways could develop but once the rain stops it should quick drain.

Once this front clears Acadiana Wednesday afternoon drier air will move over Acadiana helping to clear out the clouds with temperatures staying mild in the mid 70s.

Thursday looks to be the pick day of the week with a mix of sun and clouds and highs in the low to mid 70s.

Friday will start off dry but clouds will be increasing throughout the day as our next system heads for the southeast.

Scattered showers will start late Friday and continue into the first half of Saturday as the front makes its way through the region.

Behind this front cooler air will move into Acadiana as highs will drop into the lower 60s for Saturday and Sunday.

Right now the holiday weekend looks to be rather gloomy with overcast skies and a few stray showers.

This year it will actually feel like Christmas as temperatures will be in the 50s for most of the day with partly sunny skies.

Then moving into the middle of next week slight rain chances(30%) return to Acadiana for Tuesday and Wednesday with cooler temperatures in the 50s.
