Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard confirms the parents of 3-year old Sheldon Baker, who wandered alone for nearly 5 hours today, are currently in the Livingston Parish Detention Center.

Sylvia Baker and Shane Baker are both facing desertion and drug charges after their son wandered away from their home Friday afternoon. Deputies say this is the third time this week that Baker had gone missing.

"One time, he was found at a neighbor’s home. Just last night, he was found in the wooded area surrounding the home. Then today, he was found by a citizen working with the LPSO about a mile from his home. He was cold, scared and scratched up. Through negligence, he was outside today for hours fending for himself while inappropriately dressed for this colder weather. I am humbled by the support shown today throughout our parish," Sheriff Ard says.

Officials say that three-year-old Sheldon Baker is now in the custody of the state.

While searching the home today, deputies also discovered and seized marijuana along with drug paraphernalia.

This investigation is ongoing.

Deputies say Sheldon Baker was found just after 4:00 p.m. after he wandered away from his home in Albany, LA.  The child was transported to a local hospital as a precaution following his safe return.
