LSU Eunice awards 108 degrees during Fall 2017 Commencement

 LSU Eunice awarded 108 degrees during commencement ceremonies in the LSU Eunice Health and Physical Education Building on Friday, December 11, 2017.  Fall commencement includes graduates from the summer and fall semesters. 

 Oil and gas executive Mary Leach Werner was the commencement speaker.

Summa Cum Laude graduates, students who earn a grade-point average of 3.8 to 4.0, are Cheryl Evans of Duson, Bennett Narby of Eunice, Jailyn Papillion of Eunice, Luke Pourciau of Livonia, Hannah Standford of Church Point, Caroline Richard of Morrow, and Kandi Thornton of Lake Charles.

Magna Cum Laude graduates are Germaine Benoit of Opelousas, Sage Bischoff of Eunice, Cynthia Collins of Abbeville, Brooke Cormier of Melville,  Angel Leday of Opelousas, De’Quana LaVergne of Crowley, Tina Nezat of Opelousas, Richlyn Oretgo of Eunice, Shelly Perkins of Opelousas, and Mallory Perry of Crowley. Magna Cum Laude graduates have earned a grade-point average between 3.5 and 3.79.

    Opelousas Police have arrested two people in connection with a midnight shooting on Ina Clare Drive.  Daijah Henry, 19, was booked with three counts attempted second-degree murder and Devalone Chevis, 17, was booked with three counts principle to attempted second-degree murder.  Both subjects are currently being housed in the Opelousas City Jail. No one was injured in the incident.
