PRESS RELEASE

LAFAYETTE Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Softball head coach Gerry Glasco announced that Gulf Coast State College infielder Kynadi Tipler has been added to the Ragin’ Cajuns roster for the 2018 season.

Tipler, an all-state and all-conference performer for Gulf Coast State, hit .442 with 10 home runs and 71 RBI in her collegiate debut last spring.

A native of Hoover, Ala., and Spain Park High School product, she transfers to Louisiana as a sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining.

“Kynadi is an extremely strong and powerful hitter who will add power to our team,” Glasco stated. “She has tremendous potential to develop into a great offensive threat in the coming seasons.

“She is also an outstanding student in the classroom and her intelligence transfers over to the field,” Glasco added. “She is an extremely intelligent baserunner and has a high softball IQ, which is a product of being coached by outstanding coaches at Spain Park and Gulf Coast State. We’re excited about the addition of Kynadi to our program.”

Tipler is the third addition to Louisiana’s roster made by Glasco, joining transfers Brittany Rodriguez (Lamar) and Brittany Holland (Central Arizona College).

Her production at GCSC in 2017 was highlighted by a team-high 84 hits which included 32 extra base hits (19 doubles, 3 triples, 10 home runs), a .484 on base percentage and .732 slugging percentage. She was awarded first team all-conference and second team all-state honors by the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA).

Tipler’s high school career was highlighted by a pair of Alabama all-state selections, one each at Hoover HS (2014) and Spain Park HS (2016).

She closed her prep career hitting .419 with 10 home runs and 45 RBI for SPHS in 2016. She was named co-Offensive Player of the Year, set the SPHS record for doubles, earned a second consecutive all-area and all-county award and was a first team NFCA all-region honoree.

Tipler helped lead Spain Park to a runner-up finish in Alabama’s Class 7A tournament in her senior season.

Tipler was a three-time All-Over the Mountain choice, a participant in the 2015 North/South All-Star contest and was MVP at Hoover HS in 2014 during a season she hit 14 home runs.

The 2018 season marks the first for Louisiana with head coach Gerry Glasco, formerly the associate head coach at Auburn, Texas A&M and Georgia, who was named the fourth head coach of the Ragin' Cajuns on Nov. 20, 2017.
