Northside High School receives $100K in new gym equipment

Posted: Updated:

LAFAYETTE, La -- Northside High School students will have a surprise awaiting their return to school tomorrow. Lafayette City Councilman Patrick Lewis' family has donated equipment from the now closed 24/7 Fitness club in Lafayette to the school.

The equipment, ranging from treadmills to weights to squat racks will spark the growth of a new fitness facility at Northside -- nearly doubling the size of the current weight training facilities.

Administrators at the school say the new equipment will be available to both boys and girls athletics programs. Lewis' daughter and son-in-law both graduated from Northside High School in 2000.
