More sunshine and seasonal temperatures returning

Posted: Updated:

It was great to see the sunshine this afternoon but with clear skies tonight temperatures will quickly cool once the sun goes down bottoming out in the upper 20s and lower 30s.

With temperatures dropping below freezing again tonight a light freeze/frost will occur so exposed pipes and sensitive plants will need to be covered and pets should be brought inside.

Sunday will be pretty much a repeat of Saturday with lots of sun and highs in the mid to upper 50s.

High pressure will slide to the east Monday producing a southerly flow off the Gulf helping to warm temperatures up across Acadiana as highs will top out in the mid to upper 60s.

But the warmth will be short lived as another shot of cool air swings down into the southeast with a cold front dropping highs on Tuesday and Wednesday back into the mid to upper 50s and overnight lows falling into the mid to upper 30s.

Thursday we will see another surge of warm air off the Gulf with temperatures climbing into the mid 60s with clouds moving over the region.

Clouds will linger through the morning hours on Friday before sunshine returns during the afternoon with highs a tad cooler in the lower 60s thanks to the early clouds.

Saturday afternoon rain chances return with Gulf moisture mixing with a shortwave to produce scattered showers and a few thunderstorms.

On and off showers will continue Saturday evening into Sunday morning as a cold front swings through the region.
