Snow is done but a couple freezing nights this weekend

Posted: Updated:

Snow flurries this morning were quite beautiful as most of Acadiana received a brief dusting up to 1-2 inches in spots.

Acadiana will begin to dry out this afternoon with clouds moving out this evening setting up a very cold night.

Hard Freeze Warnings are in affect for parishes along I-10 and to the north from midnight until 8am Saturday morning as temperatures will drop below freezing for several hours with lows bottoming out in the mid 20s.

Freeze Warnings are also in affect for parishes along the coast from midnight until 8am Saturday as lows will fall into the upper 20s.

Just to be safe I would advice everyone to protect their pipes, plants and pets from these freezing temperatures.

Also, people travel tonight and early Saturday morning will need to watch out for a few slick spots and black ice on the roads, especially bridges and overpasses.

The good news is Saturday afternoon we will finally see the sun again helping to quickly warm temperatures into the mid 50s, which will feel really nice after the 40s we have been dealing with for the past several days.

Under clear skies we will cool off rapidly Saturday night with lows Sunday morning dropping near the freezing mark again creating a good possibility for a light freeze for all of Acadiana.

Sunday afternoon highs will get back into the mid 50s.

Monday high pressure slides off to the east producing a southerly flow of the Gulf pushing highs into the mid 60s.

Tuesday a dry cold front swings down into the region dropping highs a few degrees into the upper 50s under mostly sunny skies.

Wednesday morning will get quite cold again with lows in the low to mid 30s and a light freeze possible for northern parishes.

Seasonal conditions with highs in the mid 60s and lows in the low 40s will return for the second half of the work week with a few more clouds.

Rain chance don't arrive again until the following weekend and right now it is only about a 30-40% late Saturday night into Sunday.
