Winter Weather Advisory-Snow Likely

Posted: Updated:

A winter weather advisory will be in effect for most of Acadiana this morning as rain and sleet is changing over to snow this morning. Temperatures have been hovering in the lower 30s, but most areas are just above the freezing mark. Generally any accumulation of snow will be on the grassy surfaces, cars and rooftops. As of now most roadways are wet, but with temperatures dropping close to freezing over central Louisiana, some slick spots will be possible on elevated surfaces and overpasses. Most models are forecasting snowfall through midday, then tapering off this afternoon.

Clouds are expected to linger most of the afternoon with some clearing toward the north and west. Highs will reach the mid 40s this afternoon. Overnight as skies clear, expect lows to plummet into the upper 20s and lower 30s. A freeze warning is in effect for most of the region. Freezing temperatures are expected again Sunday morning. Expect sunshine over the weekend with highs in the 50s and back in the 60s for next week.
