A four-year-old child has died from injuries sustained in an accident in the parking lot of a Youngsville day care, Police Chief Rickey Boudreaux said.
A mother who had come to the day care to pick up her child was in the driveway, and another child got away from her babysitter in the parking lot of the day care and ran into the path of the truck, Boudreaux said.
The lady driving the truck never saw the child, and hit the child, Boudreaux said. The child died later at a local hospital.
No other information has been released as of 6 p.m., while officers continue to investigate, Boudreaux said.
A spokeswoman for the day care said the child was three years old, and had been checked out and was with her babysitter in the parking lot when the accident happened.
The day care, Principal's List, is located on Lafayette Street in Youngsville.
"There are no pending charges, as this was a terrible accident," Boudreaux said.
