State Police say that an additional charge has been added to the man shot by Eunice Police last week during an alleged domestic disturbance.

According to a State Police spokesman, 33-year-old Bryan Britnell will face an additional charge of aggravated assault on a peace officer. The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office on Tuesday stated that Britnell was arrested Tuesday evening on charges of domestic aggravated assault and second-degree kidnapping.

Britnell was shot by Eunice Police last week when they interrupted an alleged kidnapping. State Police are investigating the shooting, and tell us that Eunice Police responded at about noon to a home near South Ninth Street and West Park Avenue.

They stopped a car with a suspect inside, and the suspect allegedly brandished a firearm. He was shot by at least one officer and was hospitalized until Tuesday.

Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said three officers were involved; two are on desk duty and a third is on administrative leave by his choice, the chief said. The officers are on restricted duty until more information is provided by State Police, he said.
