Road To The Dome: Notre Dame Looks to Stay Perfect in Rematch Against Catholic N.I.

Posted: Updated:

In the dome Thursday night Notre Dame will chase its second state title in three years.

The undefeated Pios have gone relatively untested in 2017, outscoring opponents 513-39 in 12 games on their way to the division three championship.
One of those big wins came against Catholic of New Iberia, the team they face Thursday.

It's a rematch of the two's meeting back on September 22nd. In that game the Pios shutout the Panthers 37-0, a game in which the defense stifled the high flying Panthers' offense.Coach Lewis Cook says expect the Pios's game plan to be similar to the one used in the win 10 weeks ago.

Notre Dame has won five state championships, and as coach explains, perhaps destiny has already set in motion a sixth one coming this week.

"Ironically, in the five championships that Notre dame has won over the years, all five of those teams finished with undefeated seasons," He said. "I think in their mind if they lose a game, they don't make it to the championship."

"A perfect end? I want nothing more for these guys," added senior quarterback Garrett Bergeron. "They're special to me and they have a place in my heart. And i hope we can get it done, not only for me but for the whole team."

Kickoff in the Superdome is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
