Police: Student arrested after drugs found on Morgan City High campus

Morgan City Police say a student is under arrest after a K-9 team located marijuana on Morgan City High School's campus. 

According to police, a search was conducted at Morgan City High School Tuesday. During the search, K-9 Officer Lady alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics in a vehicle on campus. Officials allege that 22 bags of suspected marijuana was located inside the vehicle. 

Evidence uncovered linked back to a suspect 17-year-old Marquil Singleton. He was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated. 

The investigation was aided with help from the St. Mary Parish School Board and St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office School Resource officers. 

Singleton has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of Marijuana W/I/T/D
  • Violation of Uniform CDS Law (Drug-Free Zone)
