The man shot by Eunice Police last week during an alleged domestic disturbance has been booked into jail according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office.

Bryan Britnell, 33, was shot by Eunice Police last week when they interrupted an alleged kidnapping. State Police are investigating the shooting, and tell us that Eunice Police responded at about noon to a home near South Ninth Street and West Park Avenue.

They stopped a car with a suspect inside, and the suspect allegedly brandished a firearm. He was shot by at least one officer and was hospitalized until today.

Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said three officers were involved; two are on desk duty and a third is on administrative leave by his choice, the chief said. The officers are on restricted duty until more information is provided by State Police, he said.

Britnell was expected to be released from a Lafayette hospital today or tomorrow, Fontenot said. He has been booked with domestic aggravated assault and second-degree kidnapping. He'll face two hearings over the next 72 hours, one for bail and another that is required under Louisiana law for all people accused of domestic violence.

The St. Landry Sheriff's Office says that other charges may be possible.
