Multiple agencies responded to a Sunday night fire in St. Martin Parish.

Firefighters were notified at 6:50 pm on December 3, 2017, that storage tanks off of Terrace Hwy. were on fire,  according to Brian Castille, Fire Chief, St. Martin Parish Fire District. Upon arrival, fire crews discovered the control building for tanks holding crude oil on fire, not the tanks. Firefighters extinguished the fire and cooled off the tanks, stated the chief.

The storage tanks were not damaged, however, the control building was a total loss, said Castille. The tanks are owned by Wagner Oil Company out of Fort Worth, Texas, according to the chief.

Fire Departments from Evangeline Volunteer Fire Department , Parks  Volunteer Fire Department , Catahoula Volunteer Fire Department, Cade Volunteer Fire Department, Broussard Fire Department and Lafayette Fire Department assisted in the fire.

No one was injured.
